Policies

The following policies are applicable to St. Bede's CYO. All CYO participants (athletes, volunteers, and spectators) are expected to adhere to these policies at all times. Questions regarding each policy can be directed to the Athletic Director.

Codes of Conduct

The Catholic Youth Organization is affiliated with the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and is focused on youth development in five key areas: academic, service, spiritual, social, and athletic. The objective of the parish CYO athletic program is to foster growth and development of all participating members in each of the areas with a focus on teaching and playing the game. To further these goals, the CYO Board has drafted the following policies to clearly define the expectations for all athletes, coaches, volunteers, parents, and spectators:

Eligibility

In 2012, St. Bede the Venerable School merged with Assumption BVM School to form the St. Katharine Drexel Regional School. At that time, St. Bede’s CYO released an eligibility policy to address the scenarios of an Assumption parishioner joining a St. Bede’s CYO Team. Recently, Assumption BVM suspended its CYO program.
Further, prior to the 2012-2013 school year, St. Vincent De Paul children who attended St. Bede the Venerable School were permitted to play CYO sports for St. Bede the Venerable. This practice was inherited from previous pastors. This practice continued for several years. At this time, St. Vincent De Paul, has expressed interest in building its own CYO program.

To participate on a St. Bede’s CYO Team, a child from the following parishes must meet, at a minimum, the listed criteria in this CYO Eligibility Policy.

Refunds

In previous athletic seasons, the process for registration refunds was informal. The CYO Board had informal guidelines but the ultimate decision was at the discretion of each commissioner.

In 2017, the St. Bede the Venerable CYO Board has identified the need to have a formalized refund policy for registration in all sports. Given that some sports have tryouts and some do not, specific policies for each sport have been identified.

All refund requests must be received in writing (email is sufficient). Commissioners reserve the right to overrule any of the listed policies and grant or deny a refund as s/he deems appropriate. In the event of extenuating circumstances, the registration fee will be refunded in full or deferred to a following season subject to commissioner review.
